Vibration Measurements

When it comes to quality assurance, vibration measurements are a key component for predictive maintenance and diagnostic fault testing. Vibration measurements can improve reliability and quality of products, reduce support costs by providing early recognition of product weaknesses, and help consistently meet product specifications and regulations in the manufacturing process. Typical vibration applications use IEPE accelerometers for measurement sensors. Data Translation offers two options for vibration applications:

Portable (DT9837A):

  • Four simultaneous 24-bit IEPE inputs
  • Tachometer and 24-bit D/A, synchronize with analog inputs
  • Expandable

Embedded (DT9841-VIB):

  • Eight IEPE inputs for high-accuracy at up to 800 kS/s
  • Real-time control with embedded 300 MHz DSP
  • Expandable
Application Notes
-Comparative Assessment of Vibration Exposure at Different Car Speeds
The purpose of this study is to evaluate and validate the vibration exposure experienced by a car driver.
-Designing a Vibration Measurement Application with LXI
New cell phones, PDAs, Netbooks, and fancy consumer devices are being introduced at breakneck pace. These developments must get to market quickly, and assuring their integrity requires that severe shock and vibration testing is done faster and better than ever before. The emergence of the LXI standard holds the promise of plugging together off-the-shelf measurement boxes that can quickly accomplish these vibration tests.
-Whole Body Vibration Exposure to Train Passenger
A DT9837 with MATLAB was used to evaluate Whole Body Vibration exposure to frequent train passengers.
