Question: In your specifications, it states that the
analog current output = +/- 5mA minimum (10V / 2KOhms). Can you briefly explain?
Answer: I have an application where I want to use one of the
analog outputs to set 0 or 5 V to switch another circuit on and off. The other circuit input is Active Low (0 V), and internally pulled up to 5 V through a 10K resistor. Is the 0.5 mA sink a safe value for the
analog output pin? The output amplifiers will supply +/-5 mA. Typically it is 10V / 2K = 5mA but anything lower than the 10 volts will also drive the 5mA. 0.5mA is a safe value in all conditions. Updated: 08/09/01.
