Question:  16 bit drivers for NT kernels ( NT4, Win 2000 )  I am using both 2801 A 5716 and 2805 5716 in a desktop computer and cannot run 16 bit applications under Win 2000 and so cannot access 16 bits drivers under 2000.  Please explain why 16 bits drivers were not written / translated for windows 2000.

 

Answer:  The reason is that we are concentrating our Engineering efforts on new products, i.e. PCI and USB, not the ISA products. Therefore, we are no longer developing new drivers for these ISA products, nor upgrading them to the newer operating systems.  It was a purely business decision, due to the fact that the ISA slots are disappearing in the newer faster machines, as well as the parts for our older products are getting harder to find and are more expensive to purchase.  *Dated:  09/06/01.
