| Data Acquisition Gathering information from sources such as sensors and transducers in an accurate, timely and organized manner. Modern systems convert this information to digital data, which can be stored and processed by a computer. Data-Rate Buffer Application of FIFOs in which sequential data are written into the FIFO at one rate and read out at a different rate. dB Decibels. The decibel scale is a transformation of the linear scale into a logarithmic scale. Decade Counter Any counter that is capable of going through 10 different states. Decibel A logarithmic measure of the ratio of two signals- dB=20 Log10 (V1/V2), dB=10 Log10 (P1/P2) Decoder A device that converts composite video to RGB video. Demultiplexor (DEMUX) Logic circuit that depending on the status of its select inputs will channel its data input to one of several data outputs. Digital A signal which has distinct states. Digital computers process data as binary information having either one or zero states. Digital Storage Oscilloscope Instrument that samples, digitizes, stores and displays analog voltage waveforms. Digital to Analog Conversion The process of changing discrete data into a continuously varying signal.
